What is a botanical print?
A botanical monoprint is a unique artwork that merges the beauty of botanical subjects with the spontaneity of monoprinting techniques. Each print begins by arranging delicate botanical specimens, such as flowers or leaves, onto a printing surface. Ink or paint is then applied, and the composition is transferred onto paper or fabric using pressure, resulting in a one-of-a-kind impression. Unlike traditional printmaking, where multiple copies are made, each botanical monoprint is singular, capturing the ephemeral qualities of the natural world. These prints showcase the intricate details and organic textures of plant life, offering a captivating blend of artistic expression and botanical appreciation.
